NEUER DEUTSCHER WILLE:
Und dann gabs die Band „Neuer Deutscher Wille“: Das Ergebnis einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen Björn (Schlagzeug), Paul (Synthesizer) und Korbinian (Synthesizer/Gesang), letzterer auch unter dem Alias Konstantin Unwohl bekannt, ist viel 80er und ganz sicher eine bunte Mischung verschiedenster Einflüsse. Damit nähern sich die drei Hamburger vermutlich eher unfreiwillig hier und da dem Krautrock. Andererseits geht ihnen das in dem Bereich allzuoft verbreitete Muckertum vollkommen ab. Zu Underground, zu DIY, zu Neue Welle, zu viel Song, zu wenig Track ist ihre Musik. Der Nihilismus und der Duft des legendären Düsseldorfer Ratinger Hofs umweht den „Neuer Deutscher Wille“-Kosmos, ohne sich im Epigonentum zu verlieren. Aber die unbändige, frische Energie der Musik jener Tage drängt sich sofort auf. Der Bandname wurde da wohl mit Bedacht gewählt und darf bestimmt kritisch, wenn nicht gar politisch verstanden werden – schon wieder eine Parallele zu den Bands damals. Man kann sich wohl darauf einigen, dass „Neuer Deutscher Wille“ eine äußerst geschmackvolle Verarbeitung aus allem ist, was popkulturell in Deutschland 1968-1983 cool, authentisch und Underground war.

INTIMATE STRANGER:

Intimate Stranger’s dreamy sound is characterized by its melodic vocals and shimmery guitars. Described on Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 radio program as “gritty and ethereal at the same time, with beautiful vocals and a balanced sound that is difficult to achieve”.

Their post-punk influences of the likes of The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees merge with a dream pop sound characteristic of bands like the Cocteau Twins and Slowdive. As well as nod to mid-2000’s indie rock bands popular around the time Intimate Stranger was formed in 2007 by guitarist Lautaro Vera and singer Tessie Woodgate.

Although primarily based in Santiago, Chile, the band has a broad international pedigree having undertaken major tours in the USA, UK, Europe and South America. This includes recent extensive European tours in 2017 and 2018. Festivals have included Lollapolooza, Primavera Fauna, multiple SXSW shows and they have supported various international acts such as: Ed Sheeran, Raveonettes, Interpol, The Walkmen, Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order) and A Place to Bury Strangers. Intimate Stranger have five studio albums, are currently working on their sixth, and have a European tour scheduled for summer 2019.
