Stubnitz at Canary Wharf 2013
The new year finds the MS Stubnitz at one of London's most prestigious places: Canary Wharf. Right at the West India Docks Lock at the so called Wood Wharf, the ship is going to be moored for the next 5 months.
-
Bridge - 360° Panorama
This is your captain speaking... The bridge is still in its original shape, with all those historical instruments and machines. Still working, though. Some new technique is hidden behind old displays as well, to fit the current international maritime requirements.
-
Quarterdeck - 360° Panorama
Quiet popular during daytime for having a coffee and some chill-out on the waterside, the open deck turns into a crowded place during events, with the stars watching down on the people.
-
Stubnitz HRO Crane Panorama 2010
View on the ship from atop one of those cranes standing right next to Stubnitz' regular mooring in Rostock's city harbour.
-
Gangway Astern - 360° Panorama
This is the main entrance, a staircase built right above the old slip where the fishing net was pulled up back in the day.
-
Load 4 - 360° Panorama
This is Load 4, deep down in the belly of the ship. The main stage is located here. With the whole room being below the waterline and all those pipes covering the ceiling and the walls there comes a special acoustic character with it. Back in the day this was a huge freezer for the fish being caught, and there are rumours of haunting dead souls of millions of harrings down here.
-
Load 1 - 360° Panorama
In the front of the ship you'll find the second biggest venue in the ship, the so-called Load 1. It can be used as just another dancefloor, but is also the perfect place for exhibitions, conventions, art installations, theatre or all kind of performances. Its original cooling - pipe system along the walls and the ceiling gives a hint on its original usage: a huge freezer for harring, cod & co.
-
Engine Room - 360° Panorama
Down in the engine room, the control room has a direct view on Stubnitz' two "SKL" (Schwermschinenbau Karl Liebknecht) main engines. Straight up from down here those pipes go directly to the funnel, from the very bottom to the very top.
-
Stubnitz in Rostock - 360° Panorama
So this is Stubnitz at its mooring in our homeport Rostock / Germany. In summertime there's this circus next to the ship, and together with those cranes, Stubnitz has become some main part of the silhouette of this very historical hanseatic city from the waterside.
-
Stubnitz in Copenhagen / Havnegade - 360° Panorama
During its stay in Copenhagen during Winter 2010, Stubnitz was moored at a quiet fancy place at Havnegade.
-
Stubnitz in Copenhagen - 360° Panorama
Copenhagen has always been one of the most beautiful places for Stubnitz to be moored at. Right next to the very center of the city between Langebro and Knippelsbro, the ship was located just next to the Royal Library, "The Black Diamond".
-
Concert at Load 4 - 360° Panorama
This is Load 4, deep down in the belly of the ship. The main stage is located here. With the whole room being below the waterline and all those pipes covering the ceiling and the walls there comes a special acoustic character with it.
-
Hospital - 360° Panorama
The ships of the old east-german fishing fleet of the size and crew numbers like Stubnitz were determined to have their own hospitals aboard. So this is ours.
