Paul Prudence - Hydroacoustic Study

live audio / visuals
Bioacoustic Phenomena (also known as Hydroacoustic Study) was originally conceived as a live audio-visual performance piece with sound artist Francisco Lopez for a Spatial Sound event organised by Optofonica at the Smart Project Space in Amsterdam, June 2010.
The piece was subsequently developed to work with Paul's own live audio compositions and sound design. Bioacoustic Phenomenon is a live generative cinematic exploration of sonically activated biological events, specifically evolving cellular entities that grow in response to sound vibrations.

Forward Strategy Group + TVO

Patrick Walker (Forward Strategy Group) and Ruaridh Law (TVO)

live a/v collaboration

This new, untested collaborative piece treats the boat as a psychogeographical fixed point in time, traveling without moving. The history, present and future of the vessel are all simultaneous, and happening now. The performance features deep, computer based dub wise meditations from FSG's Walker, with improvised broken electronics superimposed on top from TVO from a range of sources including circuit bent devices and a custom Max patch that models the echo location and shoal patterns of fish. (This piece was specially commissioned for Hydroacoustics)

Helm

Helm is Luke Younger - a sound artist and experimental musician based in London, working with a vast array of revolving instrumentation and abstract sound sources. Younger's compositions build a dense aural landscape that touches on musique concrete, uncomfortable sound poetry, noise, and hallucinatory drones. His most last LP Cryptography, presented a five-part suite of expertly rendered electro-acoustic study which uses processed piano, Casio MT-40, cymbal and broken guitar strings. Younger creates a world where these instruments morph into spectral rust, a shimmering klang swims alongside passive noise and the relationship between acoustic and electronic derived sounds forms a solid foundation. This sound is steered through a melange of fringe territories: glacial drone meditations, reconfigured gamelan clusters, and howling walls of organized feedback, all coalesced in a post-industrial fashion with a commitment to homemade exploratory zeal. For the past ten years, Younger has also performed extensively in Europe and the US with Steven Warwick as pioneering avant-drone duo Birds of Delay.
