Cabaret of Mechanical Theatre

Hidden away in Hold One of the Stubnitz, precious and intricate machines sleepily await visitors to press their buttons and trigger them into action. Gears and cogs power up miniature performances that are funny, strange and unexpected. These are the automata of the Cabaret of Mechanical Theatre. Here you will find ingenious engineering allied with high art, a mischievous sense of humour, and even the chance to learn something of the art of mechanical movement yourself.

The collection, which includes pieces by well know artist-engineers Paul Spooner, Keith Newstead, Pierre Mayer and Matt Smith and features many of Spooner's iconic Anubis pieces, has travelled the world from Australia to Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo and the US. The Cabaret of Mechanical Theatre has also pioneered the creative use of technology by developing education projects in schools, museums and science centres.

Stubnitz feels sorry to inform, that uk immigration have not allowed Mohamed Abozekry to travel from France to the UK as he is Egyptian.

We have asked the East London immigration compliance and engagement team for assistance. No answer.
Visit his website to get in contact with his great music or look up the link of his recent concert in the 'Studio de l'Eremitage' in Paris: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YokaKXSAN4&feature=youtu.be

Teaching at the 'Arabic Oud House' in Cairo, the oud player Mohamed Abozekry graduated in 2006, becoming the youngest professor in the Middle-East. Three years later - at the age of 18 - he won the 1st Prize at the International Oud Competition in Syria.

Actually living in Lyon, France, he formed the group HeeJaz, a quartet with the instrumentation oud, guitar, double bass, percussion. The four musicians, inspired by their diverse musical paths (oriental, jazz, world, gypsy) create a strong rhythmic and harmonic backing, allowing Mohamed to improvise and play across the different styles.
