0:00	live: Monarch (F) MONARCH Commonly known as Turbojugend Bayonne, female fronted French funeral doom lords Monarch rose from a desecrated grave on a cold winters night in 2002 to create a fierce blend of blackened doom and gut wrenching sludge metal! Located in an area in the south of France called Basque Country, Bayonne is about as remote as you can possible get in France, founded by Napoleon in late 18th century, Bayonne is one of the oldest French Cityï¿½s still standing today. After recording there debut album in 2003, which never saw the light of day as it was deemed "not slow enough", Monarch hit the road for their first Europe tour and encounter what could only be described as a less than receptive audience response. Monarch's noise drenched funeral sludge caused many punters to shower them in cigarette butts and empty beer bottles; the world was obviously not ready for darkness and doom. Rather than calling it a day, as most bands would, Monarch turned negativity into solidarity and in 2005 they recorded their ï¿½Properï¿½ debut album, this S/T release was issued as double disc album and has been re-pressed countless times over. This first official release marked the birth of Monarch as we know them. Since their debut release, Monarch have gone on to do numerous Europe tours times, theyï¿½ve now built up a healthy legion of fans that have refrained from showering them with abuse. Theyï¿½ve also gone on to record a number of split releases with the like of Elysium and Grey Daturas, recorded two separate 12ï¿½ albums and are now in the process of recording their next full length album due out mid 2008. The two above mentioned 12ï¿½ LPï¿½s, which are now long out of print, have been re-issued as a double CD package on Grey Daturas record label, Heathen Skulls. This marks Monarchs first Australia release! Dead Men Tell No Tails is presented as a deluxe 2-disc package that documents both of Monarch LPï¿½s Speak of the Sea (2006) and Die Tonight (2007). Dead Men Tell No Tales features all new artwork, designed by Michael of Monarch, liner notes and lyrics. Internationally Dead Men Tell No Tale has been critically acclaimed as a groundbreaking statement in the world of doom metal.
