GruGrü, JackDupon

alternative jazz | fusion | jazzcore | math rock | progressive rock | rock in opposition

JackDupon: We could talk about prog-rock, psychedelic, about krautrock, avant-garde or rock in opposition, instrumental ritual in which we bubble guided by faint innocence and fragility. We could talk about dancing trances, angry breaks and humorous changes, of twisted crafting and making opposites rhythms dance together.

GruGrü is a nice instrumental JazzoFunkyPunk quartet, GruGrü is music that fluently oscillates between genres, leaving a very pleasant impression of permanent surprise, GruGrü is a big rock sound, a free jazz spirit and a furious groove

JackDupon (Clermont Ferrand, France)

«They’ve been putting ants in my mind»
(Someone after the show, 2022)

JackDupon is a trio, with a bass, a drum, a guitar and vocals, that sets music under ritual poetry and pieces of fractal patterns as a background Their crazy run towards an idea is hard to resist, and following them is agreeing to let change happen.

We could talk about prog-rock, psychedelic, about krautrock, avant-garde or rock in opposition, instrumental ritual in which we bubble guided by faint innocence and fragility.

We could talk about Fred Frith, Primus, King Crimson, Zappa, about EtronFouLeloublan, about aggressive ambiances that remind The Birthday Party (Nick Cave)

We could talk about dancing trances, angry breaks and humorous changes, of twisted crafting and making opposites rhythms dance together.

Ultra prolific band since 2004, JackDupon has been setting its moods all around the globe, met, shared, in the course of its tours and some ten albums.

JackDupon was created in 2004 in Billom (Volcanic Center of France), with Thomas Larsen (vocal/drums), Arnaud M’Doihoma (vocal/bass) and Gregory Pozzoli (Guitar/vocal). The band included a 4th founding member in the person of Philippe Prebet (Guitar/vocal). Early compositions were a playful prog-rock, in which you could find some jam rock influences. They did manipulate humor and absurd, before evolving to a stricter and ethereal form.

After some successes in discovery scenes, including Bilborock in Bilbao, they began touring France, Europe, USA and Canada. They shared stage with many mythical artists like Acid Mother Temple, Guru Guru, Deerhoof, Laibach, Guigou Chenevier, Blurt, Gedaliah Tazartes, Gong, and performed in some of the most demanding festivals of experimental music like ProgDay, RIO, Rock au Chateau, Zappanales, Finki festival, FIMAV.

Experimenting luxurious forms of collaboration with plastic artists, video makers and musicians were possible after many friendly encounters across the world. JackDupon recorded 10 studio and live albums, crazy compilations with friends and a colorful, psychedelic Dadaist DVD.
