Und weil das so schön passt bringen sie Rick und seinen Kumpel Frehn gleich mit. „A band made by fuzz pedals!“: Hawel/McPhail heißt das Projekt von Frehn Hawel (Tigerbeat) und Rick McPhail (Tocotronic, Mint Mind, Glacier, Venus Vegas), die mit ihrem Debut ‚Transmissions From The Upper Room‘ (Release am 21. Mai über La Pochette Surprise) um die Ecke luschern. Kernige Nummer, oder? Und das ist nicht alles, denn der Betreiber und Produzent des Electric Avenue Studios in Hamburg, Tobias Levin ist auch dabei und wir stecken im Radar-Talk die Köpfe zusammen und reden übers Aufnehmen und Produzieren von Musik. 20:16	Live Twisk TWISK is a band: Lennart + Luka + Quirin + Drums + Guitar + Bass + Singing + Words. TWISK offers an alternative draft of musical compositions, virtuoso minimal Rock near surrender. The personal is political. Their upcoming album 'Intimate Polity' (18/06/2021) was recorded in June by Rick McPhail at the upper room. They waited until November when Mario Schöning—who had co-written the songs and was the drummer then—mixed the tunes in New York and Luka did the artwork in Hamburg. It seemed like the thing to do. Ameise pressed the vinyl in February at Ramona Records as if it had been cut from a diamond. After quite some cinematographic splendour has been added music video-wise by Tom Otte, they'll perform the album live for You with Quirin on drums in May. Thank You for listening. 20:17	Live Hawel / McPhail If the decades-long friendship of two Hamburg musicians regularly revolves around their shared love of indie rock and - as befits guitarists - fuzz pedals, it is only logical that these very preferences are immediately noticeable when it comes to the formation of a band together. Frehn Hawel (Tigerbeat, Neat Neat Neat, The Last Things) and Rick McPhail (Tocotronic, Mint Mind, Glacier, Venus Vegas), have been roaring in the German music scene for a good two decades, will release their debut single 'Pause Play' as Hawel / McPhail on March 18th via La Pochette Surprise Records. https://www.lapochettesurprise.de/post/welcome-to-the-family-hawel-mcphail 2017
